In recent years, the HKSAR government has also been actively developing the city into an international innovation and technology centre, with a particular focus on attracting technology enterprises from the Mainland and abroad. Compared with traditional manufacturers and trading companies, these technology enterprises have distinct service demands when they are going global. They do not simply view Hong Kong as a platform for international trade and investment. While these companies value Hong Kong’s key strengths in finance, legal, accounting, and trade finance, they place greater emphasis on the city’s advantages in fundamental research and development (R&D), technology adaptation, international standards and certification, internationalized scenarios, and intellectual property (IP) protection.
