Building on established supply chain theories, this report examines the key concepts and essential elements for Hong Kong to establish itself as a high value-added supply chain service centre. It analyzes the evolving environment facing Hong Kong from three perspectives: global supply chain trends, the globalization of Chinese enterprises, and Hong Kong’s competitive landscape. Adopting an innovative perspective that aims to reshape Hong Kong’s competitive advantages through providing technology-related support for China’s “international circulation”, the report further enriches the functions of Hong Kong as a high value-added supply chain service centre. Drawing on the experiences of Shanghai, Singapore, and Dubai, it also proposes strategic directions for Hong Kong’s development as such a supply chain service centre.
